Since no one else is chiming in, I vote for the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing Central. We do not stay there, but we stayed at the Grand Hyatt in the same vicinity. You will be near all the tourist sites, especially Mao's tomb--how comforting is that (kidding)? Actually, it's a pretty urban area with restaurants everywhere, and Tiananmen Square very close.

Your're welcome. Here is the link to the jw that I think is in a better location:

Again, I have not stayed there but it is where you want to be to see the important tourist sites. We enjoyed just wandering around the streets in that area, just people watching, discovering hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and visiting a nice bookstore.
I assume you are staying at a Marriott to use your points? If not, I did like the Grand Hyatt. If you have elite status, you have free access to their lounge, which has the most generous morning and late afternoon spread of food I have ever seen in a concierge lounge. And the concierge service was wonderful.
