Associated Press now reporting 15 killed and 678 injured in Bangkok, with most of the fighting taking place near the Democracy Monument. No "ordinary day," this is the worst in 20 years.
I'm in Udon at present and the Song Khran celebrations are the most obvious thing going on - this is Redshirt country and there has been some "action" here but I think nothing will be obvious to the average tourist today or tomorrow.

Redshirts or not this could spell the beginning of the end of Abisit anyhow......it may take months but visitors to Thailand over the next few days, weeks months can expect a govt that itself expects to have to leave office and as such is unlikely ever to introduce any strong or effective legislation.
