Baan Boran -Chiang Mai
Could anyone tell me how far away this resort is from the "downtown"(Night Bazzar)area is? I'm having a difficult time figuring out the distance between specific places in Chiang Mai.
Thank you so much for your help.

We stayed at the Baan Boran (formerly Le Meridian Baan Boran), and if it is the same hotel it is not in Chaing Mai, but in the Golden Triangle.

If there is a different onein Chaing Mai, then ignore me and I apologize for posting.

To get to the Golden Triangle we flew from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai (very short flight) and then drove to Baan Boran (a little over an hour). Well worth it...Baan Boran is lovely and the area is fascinating. You can even cross over to Myamar (Burma) near there.

The Golden Triangle is about 4-5 hour drive. We did not fly because we wanted to see a little of the countryside and the flight was at 8:30 a.m., which was a little early for us.
We hired a private driver.

I would definetly recommend the Baan Boran. It was my favorite hotel on our vacation. The food in the restaurant was a little pricey, but there are a few other options. The pool area is nice, the spa excellent, and our rooms were decorated nicely and clean. Our room overlooked the Mekong River so we had a nice view of the sunrise in the morning.

As for things to do, I thought there were plenty. Although we chose to go though the hotel tour operator. The prices were very reasonable and we were the only three. We chose to get our visas ahead of time since we did not have time to wait a day and cross over into Laos for the day. The next day we went to visit a couple of hilltribes, a show at Lamphun (sp?) cultural center, which was really good, and into Myanmar.

Honeymoontraveller, if you like I think that I still have the brochure that I scanned in for someone else on this board. If you would like it leave a post, and I will post my e-mail for you to contact me directly. That was you could have an idea of things to do.
