We were in Myanmar in August 2013. Things might have changed since then but we had mixed experiences using our B of A debit card at ATMs. We had plenty of currency so it wasn't a major probrlem but most would not accept our card. However we did find a machine in Scott Market in Yangon and one near the local market in Nyaung Shwe (Inle Lake) that allowed us to make cash withdrawals. In both cases these were KBZ Bank machines.
If interested, I write about this in more detail (including a comparison of exchange rates) at http://www.se-asiatravel.com/myanmar/money-in-myanmar/

I agree with Yestravel and we had the same experience last week (February 2014) no problem finding ATMs, even in Sittwe. It's worth bringing some USD as a back up but we had no problems using the cash machines. Locals told us most have been around for about six plus months.
We even saw anATM inside Shwedagon pagoda in Yangon!
Technically you should be able rouse a credit card in hotels but we had some difficulty in a Bagan because the internet was down (again) it wasn't a big problem as we had prepaid for hotels through our travel agent, but it's worth bearing in mind, this is still very much a cash economy.
