Asiarooms.com Booking Delays
Hi all,
I am attempting to book Yaang Come Village for Jan07 thru Asiarooms.com. I did booking with them last Fri Jul21 and still haven't received confirmation (now it is Thurs Jul27). On Tues Jul25 I did e-mail them and they responded saying hotel has not responded to request yet. Is this normal? I only booked thru AR because room rate was only $118 USD inclusive of taxes & breakfast while website was much higher.
Anyone with experience- advice and how would you proceed? Almost a week seems like a long time to get a confirmation.

A number of people have had this problem wiuth asiarooms.com I expect you'll eventually get an email saying they can't confirm the room. I'd book with sawasdee.com I had conformation in less than 24 hours - even on a weekend.

I tried booking through Asiarooms and had a delay in confirmation also. A little over a week later they came back with a new hotel rate, with a surcharge that made that particular hotel cost prohibitive for me. Don't know that that's what a delayed response always mean, but was my recent experience.

It seems a pattern is starting to emerge with Asiarooms. Although I had no problems with Asiarooms when I reserved Bangkok hotels for last February, I am hesitant to use them now. I agree with Kathie that you will probably receive an e-mail saying they can't confirm. Even though sawasdee.com or going direct are more expensive, its worth it to avoid the hassle.

You may also want to check out Asia Web direct. I used them to book several hotels in Thailand which I stayed in this month and everything worked out perfectly. I also used sawasdee.com and had no problems with their service either.
I hope you get out of your predicament!

I had the same problem as you with Asiarooms.com. I booked a Koh Samui hotel with them on July 19 for 3 nights, July 25-28. No confirmation provided even up July 24. I phoned the hotel directly and found out that the hotel was fully booked. I emailed asiarooms cancelling my booking and within a few minutes I received a reply back as follows:
"We have received your request to cancel the above subject reservation and have forwarded it to the hotel. Because you cancelled this reservation before it was confirmed, there is no charge. Your credit card will be unblocked in three to four days."

That has been my problem. I would like to use Sawadee even tho it may cost a little more, but they do not yet have rates available for Jan07 for alot of properties. So far Asiarooms has done ok with my Bangkok booking, given me the stall on Chaing Mai, came back & said unable to book for Phuket. So I'm at a 33% success rate with them. Precision reservations was also unable to book my Phuket hotel, so I ended up booking it with Asia Web Direct and was very excited about that and pleased with their service. At this point I'm going to cancel Chaing Mai booking with Asia rooms (tell me hotel has new rates and will contact me once they get a quote - but this has been going on for several days now. Will not really attempt to use them again).

try emailing the hotel directly, inform the reservationist that you were made aware of the hotel by fodors travellers
and see if they will match the price.
it just worked for friends of mine, i recommended the hotel to them (i saw it last october before it opened) and they gave them a great price...worth a try at least...good luck, its a nice place

Asiarooms just came back with a price that was $15 USD/nite higher, but still under what website for YCV. I told them to go ahead and confirm. I am now officially booked and more than that, extremely excited that I'll be staying there.
Thanx to all who have responded to this thread with advice. You are an amazing community and I look forward to tapping you as resources as I continue booking my trip. I hope I will be able to return the favor.

James,
The Asiarooms revised rate was still just a bit less than the Sawadee rate. Not really enough tho to justify the hassle and wait. I will not really be looking to use Asiarooms in the future unless they give me something that is significantly better than I can get elsewhere.

Has anyone had any problems with Sawadee? I have booked and paid with them about 6 weeks ago for accommodation in December. I spoke with the resort today and they still havent received our booking! Thats a bit of a concern considering we have booked for over the Xmas period!

BnS...they are both the same company..
often these discount carriers hold the rooms in "street name" until just beofe your arrival when the name is changed to your name....
i have used this company (HH.20m) for many years and have not had one hitch...relax and just arrive as normal and enjoy....i am never asked for the voucher either...
