Are the Forums working better for you today?

We took the site down briefly last night as a part of an effort to fix some of the issues that have cropped up here, especially in the last week or so. I wanted to check in this morning to see if you were having an easier time clicking around and pulling up your threads. Thanks for your patience!

Katie:

Thanks for asking.

I do not know why all the text that I type and then view in the "preview my reply" window does not always carry over into the final posting that shows up when I hit "post my reply."

About 30% of the time, I wind up with truncated text in the final posting. The omitted material usually comes from the end of the message although sometimes it is "edits" that don't show up in the final copy.

If others are not similarly afflicted, then the problem must come from service discontinuities on my end.

Just thought that I'd mention it.

I'm still having some problems - pages not loading, being signed off of the forum. So far, I haven't had the problems of last week (going to the Asia forum and getting the Lounge, or the South Pacific, and not being able to get to any other foum.).

I just posted a rather lengthy message that I kept open and went back to periodically throughout the morning. So I posted it about 2 hours after I started it. I had no problem whatsoever.

I continue to have more problems loading with Mozilla Firefox than with Windows Explorer but both have been slow. No instances today of other forums loading in the Asia Forum as happened several times last week.

I have been signed off periodically this morning.

The forum's info bar on the left is sometimes very slow loading today but no issues with the wrong forum loading as previous

Also like Craig I seem to have more problems with slow loading and logging on with Mozilla than with IE

Aloha!

I just had a problem where older threads (July, June and May) loaded up when I refreshed the Asia Forum - almost as if I had done a search - weird...

Craig, I had that problem last week. Not so far this week.

I use IE at my office and Safari at home and have had similar problems both places.

Seems as the day goes on the problems are getting more frequent.

Now am experiencing real slow loading time for the forums(more than 1 minute)

When they do load its the wrong forum sometimes

Have been logged off three times in a row now.....maybe I am being erased

Are you saying naughty things, HT? Maybe that's why you're being logged off. ;-)

Perhaps I responded too soon earlier when I said things were better. Well, they are better - but still not perfect and problems seemed to increase over the day. Thanks again for checking into whatever is wrong!

A bit slow in Australia . Took me 3 tries to get the forum threads under my name to appear on screen which of course normally pop up straight away .

OK, things are working now. I'm in Narita Red Carpet Lounge, on my way to Bangkok. Glad I'm going to be able to chat with my travel friends on fodors!!
