Ankor Wat: Ponheary's Brother Dara?
Has anyone used Ponheary's brother Dara as a tour guide in Ankor Wat? She is booked on the dates we are going, and suggests we use her brother. Thanks!

We also recommend Dara and his driver without reservation. Dara is knowledgeable, warm, and witty in an appealingly understated way. I posted "In praise of Dara Ly..." after our very favorable August 2006 experience.

Another vote for Dara. Our family used him in December, 2005, and he was wonderful. He works well with his long-time driver Rithy. You can read my trip report from that trip, "Just back from Siem Reap" that will give you a lot of useful information.
I also saw Dara in action more recently when I was there this past July, 2008, and stayed at the Lys' guesthouse while doing volunteer teaching at a school that they sponsor. I saw how attentive Dara continues to be with the tourists that he was taking around at Angkor Wat, and he remains the ever gentle, warm, informative, and humble person that he is.

I'll make it four votes for Dara! We thought he was wonderful. Warm and friendly. He took good care of me and my daughter.
