Alone in bali and jakarta???

Il be in bali (kuta) the end of may start of june for 6 nights and then to jakarta for 5 nights,im just wondering how it is meeting people.
I know bali is a big party place and full of aussies but is it so touristy where a lot of groups of freinds and that go to and might be more awkward than somewhere not so touristy where more solo travellers go.
Ive been away alone before and i found in phuket although i had great fun i didn't meet as many people as in say vang veing or bangkok where more backpackers and that are and not people just on 2 week package holidays.
Im a 21 year old irish lad and im fairly outgoing and would really talk to anyone about anything and try laugh as much as i can.
I suppose im just paranoid of being in a club watching big groups of freinds having fun and me like staring into my glass like im waiting for my freind to come back from the toilet...haha
Thanks in advance for your advice..

You'll meet plenty of people at Kuta. There are plenty of solo travelers.

Why are you going to Jakarta? If this is a holiday for you, I'd suggest you skip Jakarta.

Let me suggest that you cut the amount of time you spend in Jakarta. It's really not a tourist spot. Indeed, if you can change your flight so you just transit Jakarta, that would be better.

Jakarta has terrible air pollution, incredibly bad traffic. It's a huge, sprawling city without much to recommend it.

Jakarta does a lot to recommend itself to a 21 year old male. I'm not the go to source here, but my young friends have very energic social lives -- lots of good bars, restaurants, clubs. I'd start with BATS at the Shangri-La and ask around. The Kemang area has a lot of laid-back places. For taxis stay with Bluebird.

Having said that I'd agree that 50/50 Jakarta/Bali isn't a good split. Spend more time in Bali.

In Bali I'd suggest that you get out of Kuta and move toward Jalan Double 6 and Seminyak. Again, I'm out of my depth here, but my son and his friends like Hu'u Bar. KuDeTa is an experience but not the most relaxed atmosphere.

Thanks rhkkmk that made me blush..haha just joking il smile all the time if im with nice and cool people.
Im stuck thinking about that now cheers for the answers kathie and marmot,do you think i should change my flight and stay 7 nights in bali and 4 nights in jakarta or even 8 and 3???
If its not touristy and im not going to have that good a time im thinking now 5 nights is to long.
I just read reviews that jakarta has a great nightlife and i wanted to split up my trip even enough.
Id have to buy another flight if im changing but its cheap enough with airasia.
There's no point in stressing myself over the sake of a bit of money.

I'd suggest 8 nights Bali, 3 in Jakarta. Marmot lives in Jakarta so is the resident expert.

I would definately go for the 8 & 3. I have been to Bali alone for a week & had a great time. There are also lots of day trip things yo can sign up for if you like. I remember (this was years ago but I am sure they still exist) doing a Mt bike trip on one of the 1st days that was downhill all the way & great fun through villages & enabled me to meet up with some people to go out with that night.Even if you don't do that type of thing you will not be alone in a bar for long people are in a very relaxed mood in Bali & you will be laughing with people before you know it. I am not a real party person & found if I wanted time alone I had to make an effort to get it! You will be fine. But do cut your time in Jakarta.
