We will be arriving at 18:45 into BKK @ DMK on an Asia Air flight from CM. Our preference would be to go straight to Hua Hin that evening. Is this doable if we get a driver to meet us at DMK? Or would we we better off going the following am? Any recommendations for a driver would be appreciated. Thanks!
I see no reason why you couldn't go directly to Hua Hin. A regular taxi might take you there, but arranging for a driver in advance might be the better plan. I know that people arrive at all hours at BKK and want to go directly to Pattaya, for example, and have no problems getting there (but maybe by shuttle van or bus?). I've always headed directly into Bangkok upon arriving.
Pook did recommend us a driver Peter we arrived at 11pm and went directly to huahin and he took us back to bangkok, great driver and on time, cheaper than limo. If u check under hanuman name on fodors he did give all the info to another fodorite
Thanks! I found this info on another thread. This was posted by hanuman. is this the driver? Approximately how far in advance do we need to book? Thanks
Peter

As long as you have a driver who knows where you are going, you should be fine.
Twice, we hired drivers from agencies at the airport to take us to Hua Hin. In both cases, the driver took us to the wrong hotel, but the staff at the hotel gave him directions to our hotel. This works fine during the day, but I wouldn't want to do this in the middle of the night.

seems to me that you might be in the heat of the traffic at that time...??
I think personally I would prefer to go in daylight...
if staying in bkk then the anantara riverside would be on the side you want to be on and not out of your way..

yestravel - if your plane is schedule to land at 18:45 you can be out of the airport with you luggage by 19:15. If you were to go directly to Hua Hin it should take you around 3 hours to get there and you will arrive by 22:15. Traffic at that time of day should be OK and you can always take a nap while going to HH. Morning time on the beach in HH is very peaceful and from the crack of dawn you can see monks collecting alms on the beach.
If you spend the night in Bangkok then will be OK as well and might save you a night's room rate at your resort / hotel in HH.
You have gotten the correct contact information for the driver and both evelyne13 and filmwill have used him without any problem. Seem like a nice young man who own his own car (SUV).
