"Internet booking saves you 200 baht per night. I asked about the same executive apartment we now have, and instead of 3499 the rate was 3699. I'll be sure to book what I need just as soon as I get back home! I don't want to lose my lovely apartment".
Why not just book it now? Seems like paying just over USD $6/day isn't worth not waiting to get back and possibly not getting the same apartment. Or why not just book it over the internet now? Guessing maybe you don't have the dates dialed in?

I'm going to book when I get home. I'll take my chances. I've been looking at availability and it is not a problem.
Fun
For me, personally, the river is too far away from the activity and fun of Sukhumvit. I have stayed along the river, when I first came to Bangkok, but now only stay in the city.

funtotravel: if this is your first trip and you want to see the major sights, then I'd recommend staying by the river. you can take the riverboat "taxi" which will get you quickly around and besides that mode is transportation is fun.
If this is your umpteenth trip and you're into shopping shopping shopping, then stay along Sukhumvit and take the skytrain to the various malls and markets.

Carol,
Have you heard of the Adelphi's sister hotel the Legacy Suites? They have an online special right now that is $75 pn for a standard room and $120 pn for an executive suite. We are checking it out and may just try to book our room there. Here is the link:

You know, i don't think they have a pool though...my daughter was really looking forward to that.
decisions, decisions...

I just looked at the Legacy link. Looks nice! Go for it.
I am really happy with Adelphi and probably will make that my home away from home when in BKK, at least for the time being. The location is what I really prefer.

I still have not made my reservations for April/May. There is availability so it is not a problem. I will not go into the details, but there are several reasons why I've not booked yet.

I agree with the others who have replied to your post. If this is your first trip to Bangkok, stay along the river. If you've been many times, and if shopping is your goal, stay in the Sukhumvit area!
