Ho offwego. How long did it take for phomn penh to process your visa. I will be in PP before going to Myanmar. Thanks

it took two weeks to process it in PP, but I did not inquire about any expedited service. If you're in a hurry and flying into Yangon anyway, may as well get to SR and fly from there (and get the VOA). Double check when you buy your ticket (On Myanmar Air only); they are constantly changing the game.

Keeping my fingers crossed for e-visa. And starting to wonder about a backup/Plan B just in case.

Kathie, you wrote: The visa is good for 90 days after it is issues (you have to enter Burma within the 90 days) and then is good for up to 28 days in Burma.

So the visa doesn't actually expire in 90 days, or it does? As others have experienced trying to plan this, it's difficult to get the timing right sometimes with when to get the visa, especially if we are traveling extensively to other countries and can't always be without our passports for long. If I started the visa process, and it was issued on June 1, for example, then does it expire around Sept. 1, no matter when I start travel there? Or if I enter the country say on August 20, but I want to stay through Sept. 7, as an example, is that allowed?

It's confusing to me, because usually the visas that I have been issued clearly state when they expire, and I thought you had to be out of the country by then. Perhaps I've misunderstood this with those visas, or perhaps Myanmar does it differently, if indeed they do?

No it's like this, you have 90 days to ENTER the country from when it's issued. Once you enter the country you can remain in Burma for 28 days. So essentially you must enter within 90 days of the visa date even if you enter on day 89 you still have 28 days in Burma.

Thanks so much for clarifying that! That simplifies things somewhat (as much as can be simplified with this whole visa process)!

Yes, the whole thing is confusing, but Smeagol has it right.
