I understand your point. However, I doubt that either of your wives would feed you breakfast by hand, hang on your every word, or play with your shirt buttons in a restaurant at breakfast, as many of them were doing.

I feel it may be the area around Soi 11 that is as much a problem as the Adelphi itself. In dec 2011 we did look at staying at the Adelphi but decided against it in favour of the new Aloft hotel across Sukumvit. We had stayed in the area a quite a few years before and enjoyed it mainly because of the plethora of small restaurants, bars and street stalls. This time however was different, in that the bars seemed full of old western men accompanied by young Thai bar girls. Wandering along Sukumvit it was difficult not to notice that many of the street stalls were now selling sex aids and Viagra in addition to the usual fake T shirts. All very sad.

I'm sure you are right about the area, unfortunately. Btw, I would love to read your blog about your trip around the world. I read it previously but can't seem to pull it up now. Would you mind reposting the link? I need to figure out my next destination & need some inspiration!

Thanks, Crellston, for the link. We may indeed land in the same spot one of these days. Another trip to South America sounds great. There are always so many places left unexplored. We all still dream of another visit to the wildlife of Manu. I'm trying to figure out these OneWorld tickets for later in life. If you land at SFO let me know!
