You lost me at the handkerchief. If you don’t mind me asking how old are you (within 100 years)?

I love you all.

And I mean it would in the nicest way.

So basically I am the bad guy and should just shut up.
Ok. Sure.

No one is saying you are "the bad guy and should shut up". Rather, it's your extreme tone and comparing your experience to the holocaust and rape that is being criticized.

You chose to forego being scanned by the x-ray machine and then you objected to being subject to more intense scrutiny, failed to remove your shoes, empty your pockets, remove liquids from your bag and who knows what else. All of these are basic rules that have been in effect for years at security check points all over the world. For someone who has "been through 100 different airports" and "taken 1,000 flights" one can't help wonder how you didn't know or at least encounter some or all of these procedures during your previous travels. Regardless, doing so raises some concern by the security staff and thus a need for closer inspection meaning you are going to be inconvenienced whether you like t or not.

We've all had less than perfect experiences going through security checks at airports at one time or another because we might have forgotten to remove liquids, forgot we had a banned item in our luggage or inadvertently ledfff something in our pocket or something triggered a need for closer scrutiny. When that happens and we are subject to a more intense check we simply accept that we'll be inconvenienced for 5 or 10 extra minutes. There's no need to roll your eyes, sigh out loud, become testy, get surly, or openly express displeasure.

You'd have been better off just accepting the inconvenience then, later if you absolutely felt it necessary, you could and your traveling companions could have vented to each other all you want for as long or as short as you liked. There is no need to write a long winded diatribe comparing your experience to the holocaust or rape on a travel forum. It serves absolutely no purpose.

I'm sure 100's if not 1,000's of others went through that same checkpoint on the same day without incident.

No one told you to shut up or blamed you for the poor treatment you received at Schiphol.

We are only pointing out that it is hardly in the same league as rape or mass murder.

Sure, I have been down this road before.

So I'll answer for Janis, I don't care much about the others.
I choose to read the way I want, and I feel that people are piling up, of course not telling me to shut up and not saying that I'm a bad guy, just that I chose to refuse the Xray (and thus brought it on me) that I should not complain since I treavel so much and have so few problems, that I have an attiuted and that I have no reason to bring in comarison anout nazism.

I guess everybody has a tolerance to some things.
I have zero tolerance for people who choose to anniy others, show no empathy by letting a whole family barefoot for 15 min and who choose (choose) to destroy one of their suitcases just because they feel they can.
But it seems a lot of people here agree - again, I chose to avoid Xrays and I have an attitude, so I should not complain.
Well, in my way of thinking I associate such people (not posters, mind you, people who choose to annoy others just because they can) as people predisposed to becoming good nazi guards in Auschwitz.
I am now made aware that it gives a goo laugh to some here and that nobody agree.
So ok, I realize I am a fool and I realize I don't think like others. Ok. And it is shameful...
On the same account, and to make you laugh more, I also thought that a guy saying that you have to grab women by their... and that Mexicans were rapists would never get voted for. Again, I've proven a fool.

So be it, I won't change, I realize I'm a fool and I realize - for the third and last time - that I therefore don't belong here.

Sorry to have bothered you, glad I've made it possible for some to make judgments about me and given a good laugh to others.

Next time I'm confronted to a guy who tells me he'll break my suitcase just because he can, I'll shut up and let him do it, remembering that I'm such a fool.

Lesson learned - don’t complain about little people (security) to other little people (posters).

Little people stick together.

Body scanners do NOT use x-rays.

The only time you had been exposed to x-rays or gamma radiation was during your 12 hours flights to and from Argentina.

In fact, you exposed your body to the radiation level of a regular thorax/upper body x-ray exam each way - not just the tiny doses your dentist's x-ray machine uses for one tooth.

What security uses x-rays on people? Luggage, yes ... but not people. There usually are magnetometers and millimeter wave machines.

He has multiple user ids on Fodors. He won't be gone for long.

He was completely off base in this post. Rape and Holocaust comparisons for being inconvenienced for his refusal of security measures? Absolutely shameful!

Your dentist does not put a heavy protective cape over you before doing the Xrays?

No, it's not as if I'm having them everyday. If I needed a heavy cape then I'd be VERY worried over the equipment being used as it would imply it's spraying X-Rays everywhere and not through a tooth.

I‘m currently standing in line for 45 minutes at this super dysfunctional Brussels airport and getting nervous to miss my plane. Three of 12 checkpoints open.
Who wants to still work at 8pm anyway.
I‘d happily be yelled at by nasty Amsterdam security if they got their job done.

I'm glad the OP is gone. Pariswat lost every ounce of sympathy from me when the word "Auschwitz" came up. That was a despicable insult to all who suffered and died there.

No - I don't think the nuked post was from pariswat/whathello/other names the OP has used. It wasn't his syntax or even close.
