Unruly children during flight
Turbulence, snoring passengers, foul smelling passengers, delays, peanuts, tiny bananas, awful lumbar support, cold/hot temperature...None of these compare to the annoyance of unruly loud children during a flight. I have a 6 year old girl that behaves and usually sleeps when she flies. Why can't other kids? Why must they:
Scream,
Cry,
Pull on/Kick my seat,
Roam around untethered,
all while their parents think this is
funny/cute?

Does anyone have a solution?
Has anyone ever asked the flight attendant to move the unruly rug-rats to another part of the airplane?

What is the solution for this worst annoyance of air travel?

Thanks.
pg

Paul,

They could put them with the oversized passengers. Seeing as how these unruly children are the WORST at space invasion. The airlines would be well advised that the "Large" people of this nation incumbered with the cost of 2 seats could well open the door for a major lawsuit if they can prove that "Other" traveler's infringe upon passenger space and only the "Large" people are FORCED to pay DOUBLE.

Hey "Large" People, be sure to carry your video cam corder's with you or a camera. Your attorney will appreciate that.

Paul,
you are truly pathetic. You posted the exact same message earlier and stirred up a controversy but that wasn't good enough. In a desperate need for attention you post it again.

You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with this topic.

Hmmm, well I have 2 kids. One of them would be your *good* child and the other your *"problem"* child. Kids are just different and react to stress and unfamliar surroundings differently. Next time one of those "unruly" kids is encroaching on your space, try to engage them in a friendly manner and watch how fast they calm down and how grateful their parents are for your understanding.

Paul
Well....hmmmmmmmm..I hav to agree that there probly is NO answer to this situation.Kids are kids. What I guess annoys me the most is seeing the parents not giving any effort whatsoever to "comfort" the squirming kids.A lot of times, they cant and its beyond their control. But the moms and dads who acknowledge that they know the kids are disturbing others well they get my vote.At least they are trying. My mind and attitude will doubtless change when I have my own kids. The best thing I do is just chill.
Jason

In a nutshell, unruly children come from parents who fail to discipline their children. I see families at the ticket counter all the time and while their children run around in circles, both parents focus on checking in for the flight. Common sense would tell you one parent can check-in the family while the other parent watches the children. If there is a single parent, you need to hold them by their hand and remind them they are in a public facility. Children will be children and parents need to enforce social ettiquette at home before taking their kids into the public eye.

I know that sometimes flights are necessary - family emergencies, long-distance moves, etc. But in all other cases, I think it's totally rude to take children on a plane before they're at an age at which they can be controlled. There are many, many other travel experiences one can enjoy by car or train (with your own family cabin) in the meantime.

Harsh? ...Maybe.... But for whatever its worth, I'm a parent myself and stayed off planes until my child was seven, during which time we had some pretty great roadtrips around this beautiful country.

I wonder when parents will grow up and learn that having children sometimes involves a bit of compromise and sacrifice -- for THEM, not everyone else around them

Don't you think that most children and adults are pretty obnoxious. They had to learn it from their parents....you know the ones that don't change the kids diapers, put their seat all the way back, and like to spray perfume on themselves. Kids are not any worse than an English guy that said behind me on a 9 hour flight with his knees in my back.
