United first class question

Hey everyone,
I'm flying first class from Maui to Chicago on a 777-200 and was wondering what to expect. Do the seats have footrests? Do they go back as far as the seats in international business? Do you have an individual monitor? Is the food as good as it is on an international flight?

We flew UA First from Maui to Chicago in March. No footrests. No individual seat screens. And no, the food isn't as good as international business/first. If you've been in first on a domestic flight (not including p.s. transcontinental service or the occasional international plane on a domestic route), that's pretty much what you'll get.

We flew this aircraft from HNL to SFO last year. We upgraded on the way out, but decided to stick with E+ on the way back -- there wasn't much difference, other than the meal (which was still nothing special). It is nothing like regular first class (or even businss class) on a 777 with 3 cabins.

I agree with the others. There is no comparison with int'l business.

That said, I used my miles to upgrade my BIL and his wife on their first trip to HNL. They are not "regulars" at flying, and were not excited about the 8 hrs from ORD. But they really enjoyed flying first class! Their original seats were in the center (5) way in the back of econ. Since I had booked their trip, I was worried about those seats. It felt great telling them that they were flying in 1st class instead. It was a good use for 60k of my nearly 300k FF miles.

Thanks for the responses. I'm using mileage for the upgrade, so I think it's worthwhile. I'm glad I'm not paying, though -- not that I could afford first class, anyway.
