Tips for Best Priced Airline Tickets to Bonaire & Costa Rica
We're trying to find the best priced airline tickets to fly to Bonaire or Costa Rica in early March.
Does anybody have suggestions for best airlines to fly to Bonaire or Costa Rica?
Or, any ideas about ways to keep the cost of the flights as low as possible?
We know it'll be expensive, but hope to find the as decent of rates as possible. We had hoped to go to Bonaire, but if we can't find slightly less expensive tickets, thought that Costa Rica might be an option.
Thanks for any assistance!

For one thing, book very soon. Early March is high season, and the lowest fares sell out quickly.
You don't say where you're flying from. Your choices to Costa Rica are:
American (through Miami or Dallas)
Delta (through Atlanta)
Continental (through Houston or Newark)
US Airways (through Charlotte)
Jet Blue (through Orlando)
Spirit (through Fort Lauderdale)
Taca (through Miami or San Salvador, El Salvador)
Copa (through Panama City, Panama)
Aeromexico (through Mexico City)
Most flights fly to San Jose (SJO). A few flights go to Liberia (LIR) in the northwest part of the country. If you plan to focus your travels there, look into that option.

Thanks, Jeff. We prefer to fly out of Dulles or Raleigh, but could fly to NY or FLA to connect with a different airline to get a better fare.
You've helped us a great deal by letting us know who flys to SJO through what cities. I'll start looking into possible options.
Also good to know that early March is high season & that we need to book ASAP.
We haven't figured out where we'd like to go yet, but I thought that San Jose would have better fares & would be relatively central.
We love water, snorkeling, scuba diving, wildlife, beautiful nature, flowers, birds, waterfalls, gorgeous scenery, etc.
We'd probably spend a lot of our time along the coast that has good coral reefs & good nature areas. I'll start looking into those options tonight, too.
If you have ideas concerning what parts of Costa Rica we might especially enjoy, we'd love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks so much!

You can still fly from those places, but you'll have to connect somewhere, since neither IAD nor RDU have flights to Costa Rica.
The Central American airline Taca does fly from Dulles to El Salvador, where you could connect to a short flight to San Jose. Taca is a good airline and the connection in El Salvador is easy. No passport control or customs since you don't officially enter the country. You just walk a short distance to your connecting gate. (Dulles has flights to El Salvador since there's a large Salvadoran population in Washington.)
Post your questions about Costa Rica itself to the Mexico/Central America forum. There's a huge group of Costa Rica fans there who can give you advice.

www.spirit.com very cheap flights into SJO via FLL
almost always works out cheapest for me might check there.
www.kayak.com/buzz for best fares with the majors
Bonaire usually lots more.
www.jetblue.com also sales in SJO CR sometimes also.
But I usually can fly spirit first class cheaper than
econo on the other airlines frequently get off peak
FREE flights with my trusty free spirit world mastercard
one of the many perks..I pack light slide my bag under the
seat in front of me free small charges for other things
even overheads sadly the down side of the econos.
Still worth it to save for me.
