There are airfare bargains out there.

The airlines must be in trouble because there are some real bargain fares out there. I just purchased two round trip economy tickets from west coast to east coast for the end of September for $174 each. The best part was that even at that low price they allowed me to use FF miles to upgrade to first class.

Hi Tony,
Where exactly did you get 'great price'?
It sounds too good to be true. Did you use priceline.com ot hotwire.com?
We have to depart and arrive from BOS tp SFO certain time in 3rd week of October this year so we can't use these sites.
Can you give me some infor where you get these great price.
TIA
Arg

I found the fares on the new airline operated website www.orbitz.com. It is really easy to use and covers all of the airlines except Southwest. However, since I wanted to upgrade using FF miles, I actually called the airline to make the reservations and handle the upgrade. They gave me the same fare. By the way, I have made two trips from west coast to Boston in the last year. In both cases I flew into Manchester, NH because I could get much better fares than I could get flying into Boston. You might want to check that out. As a bonus, it is also much cheaper to rent a car in Manchester than it is in Boston. They don't have those outrageous city/airport/big dig taxes that are charged in Boston.

I HAD found some good bargains out there about 2 weeks ago. We were looking at Milwaukee to San Francisco (via Chicago). I found fares of about $200 on AA's website. We have credit to use on AA and so was not checking other airlines. I checked a weekend in each of Sept., Oct., Nov., and Dec. Unfortunately, we could not book right away. When I went back yesterday to look again, fares had jumped to roughly $345 per person.

ARG

Instead of flying out of Boston, try Providence and/or Manchester. Instead of flying into S.F., try flying into Oakland, San Jose or Sacramento. You will find many fares for under $200
