The cloud parted - FINALLY back from London

Got home this evening from a planned week in London that evolved into two weeks thanks to the volcanic ash cloud. Had an LOL moment when the dinner entree during the flight was Chicken Vesuvio.
Inquired of CO staff at LHR about any entitlement to reimbursement; check in agent said contact customer care back in the States. Also asked a gate agent who said nothing would be given as the EU regulation applies only to EU carriers. That is not consistent with what I have seen in the press, but did not argue. Wonder if anyone else has had any experience with this?

The folks on TripAdvisor.com's message board claim you are due reimbursement and I have seen a lot of threads on it, you might try reading over there. (I haven't followed them closely as several of them dissolved into US vs EU rule debates)

Glad you got home, I was impressed with your "attitude".

Welcome home, Seamus. I too read your post when you were "stuck" in London, it sounds like you continued to have a great time thanks to your good attitude. I hope you are not going feeling absolutely broke now however. And I imagine it is so good to be back home.

Welcome home! I would definitely ask for reimbursement - what do you have to lose except a couple of dollars for certified letter? The address must be on their website.
