Thanksgiving Travel

I'm going from PHL to STL to visit high school friends during the Thanksgiving holiday. I understand it's the busiest time of the year for travel. Are there any hints you can give me for getting better deals? The best I can find right now is $246 from AA.com if I fly out 11/24 and return 11/27. (can only travel from 11/24- 11/28)

Any info. you'd be willing to share would be much appreciated.

Looks like a good price, especially because you can get nonstops on AA. You could also return on the 28th for the same price.

That's a good rate. The only suggestion I would have is flying on Thanksgiving morning. Since American moved its hub out of STL, there aren't a lot of deals. With Southwest in Philadelphia, it's fair to say that's probably as low as it is going to get

Thanks for your replies- will take a look at Southwest.com and see what they offer.

Again, thanks for the input!

Betsy -- I'm also starting to work on my Thanksgiving plans -- and I too have to fly then. I'm on all the discount sites today and just now did a quick search on Orbitz for you...(that was the one I"m on) and saw one for $220 leaving Wednesday and returning Saturday. You could also do a farewatcher type thing -- I"ve set a few of those up and it's so helpful. Are you strictly an AA flyer by the way?

Baligirl, thanks for the "heads up!" That's really a great price. I checked again on aa.com (I like their 0 stop flights!), and I can leave on 11/24, and return 11/28 for $212!

I'll be booking that tonight. Thanks so much for your help! Where are you flying to- and having luck with pricing?

Betsy -- glad it worked out for you!

I'm trying to go to Montreal, to just get away for a bit and see a new city. My boyfriend just went and loved it, so we're trying to plan a getaway. So I have a Deal Detector set up and actually get emails from orbitz when the rate for a flight to montreal drops...I'm trhing to get as close to $200 (or less) as possible
