Spirit Air $9 Sale

To celebrate its new service to the Caribbean, Spirit Airlines is offering $9 fares (each way).
Good for trips to Jamaica, Bahamas, Dominican Republic.
Gotta buy by Nov. 7 and travel by Dec. 14.
Unfortunately, I have a trip booked for Dec. already!
Maybe this will be helpful to someone else.

Took me awhile to get on, I'm sure their site is getting lots of hits.

Hi:

Thank you very much for the tip. I was able to get the $9 fare (base fare) going down but the return I had to settle for the $59.00 price. I thought it was a fluke, but after a couple of tries on the web site..very slow...I was able to secure the price.

Will be taking a quick trip to Bahamas as the Turks price was unavailable. Took the RIU up on there promo price...so all in all about $650.00 for three days, non stop flights & all inclusive hotel. I'm just hoping they throw in the mini-bar to (lol)

I've had a few friends who have tried Spirit, usually due to cost, and I've yet to hear a really positive report. Long delays, overbooking, and equiptment issues(they don't have a large stable of aircraft that can just replace another)seem to be the norm...Sometimes,you get what you pay for...I hope the airline has worked out the bugs in the last few years. Otherwise, even a steal of a cost doesn't help calm the annoyance of being held up.

Hi:

Just got back from trip. Had a great time and was very suprised at the quality of the Spirit plane (new Airbus). Got into Nassau on time and returned on time (whew). Free soft drinks but you had to buy the food, no blankets (but I don't use those anyway). Better than I expected.

Sorry to say this, but Spirit is another airline that's struggling. Not as bad as Indepedence, but definitely struggling to compete against AirTran, Jetblue, Song and others in the Florida market.

Their revenue and passenger-miles are down about 20% in Nov 2005 compared to a year ago. 20% is a lot. So, I'll put Spirit in the endangered species list.
