Space travel

This morning, SpaceShipOne completed its second trip into space in 5 days winning the $10,000,000 X-Prize.

I am looking forward to the not to distant future when someone on this board is planning their first commerical space flight.

For many years I didn't think this would happen in my lifetime. This is exciting!

Can't believe the media doesn't pay more attention something so significant and (unlike much of the other current news) possitive.

The media didn't care, perhaps because this didn't require billions of taxpayers money, and didn't create or expand federal bureaucracy?

The media hasn't been interested in covering private entreprenuership for a while...

That is good news. It is very important.

If you are wondering what to do with your 10 million USAir FF miles, then take a look at this:

How long before people post here asking about food, service, boarding order and free upgrades on the space ship?

Using the SS1 model, there will not be any FF miles.

They take off and land at the same place.

Yeah, the Rutan boys are known for their stinginess with FF miles. They also didn't give out FF miles for their round-the-globe non-stop Voyager, and just one segment credit. I heard the food and service was bad too.

Seriously, I really admire the Rutans. When I first watched the Voyager story on Discovery Channel (or some other cable channel), I was so moved that I had tears in my eyes.
