Yes they do have flat-bed seats in J. Pictures and description:

Can't tell you anything about service. Have not flown with SAA.

They definitely have flat beds (I was very jealous since my parents flew business, but my husband and I had to fly coach). As for the service, it was better on the way over than on the way back, but even on the way back it wasn't bad. I think it was just a different flight crew who weren't as attentive. Plus I had just had a bad experience in the Jo'burg airport falling over a concrete knee wall that wasn't well marked and hurting my leg pretty badly. The worst part was that NO ONE in the airport seemed to even care much that I was injured. Then I had to stand in line forever to get on the plane since that airport doe not board by seat numbers, hundreds of people just line up. So I was pretty cranky by the time I got on the plane and that may be why I thought that flight crew wasn't as nice. But I would definitley fly them again if I had the opportunity to return to South Africa (and I hope to someday).

Worst airline I hve ever flown with - hopefully never again. Bad service and experience at J Burg airport. Mixed our seats up and then we were not able to sit together on international flight even though when I got on board there was no one sitting next to me. FA's very indifferent

If there was nobody sitting next to you, why couldn't your travel companion move over to that seat?
