Ryanair considers fee to use the lavatory
Okay. It is Ryanair, so no surprise they would be the ones to come up with this idea.
Apparently, they are considering implementing a £1 or €1 "toilet fee" on flights of one hour or less. A coin-deposit slot would unlock the lavatory door. It's not definite yet.

It it weren't true it would sound like an April fool's joke wouldn't it? I'm only in my 40s and I remember clearly the playing cards, the nice blankets and pillows, the real plates and utensils, the magazine racks you could borrow from, the metal flight wings kids got... and the list goes on....

I doubt Ryanair ever had those things. Or if they did, they always charged for them.

On land, you can always look for another toilet. On an airplane, you have no choice: one pay toilet, shared by 189 passengers.
I regularly wonder just how extreme things must get before travelers stop using ticket price as their one and only criterion of choice in selecting an airline. If you don't like pay toilets, vote with your wallet. If all you care about is price, then stop complaining.
