BarbAnn - No problems with name not matching exactly to name on ID? That might be an option. But he has tried with and without his middle initial without success.

Husb and has flown JetBlue, USAirways, Delta, UA, AA in past 3 months with no problems. Four flights on SWA during that time - could not check in on-line any of these flights.

Gail, no one has commentted on Bill vs. William. TSA just makes sure his photo on his DL is who they are looking at. Neither SW or TSA has commented on the nickname. DH tried to use his first name and middle intial, but he was still stopped. The use of his nickname started as a mistake (gal at his office used it instead of his official name). He had no problem, so now he does it all the time.

Good for mr gail it is only southwest. I'd try full middle name.

If John Francis Kennedy is the terrorist's name then that means that John Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, J. Francis Kennedy, and J.F. Kennedy would all be in the database too. But John Fitzgerald Kennedy might not because the full middle name distinguishes it from the rest. I'd bet that JohnFrancis Kennedy would work.

My firstname is William. When I got my Costco card I used Bill. I once went to get a replacement card and showed my ID that said William. The Costco person noticed the discrepancy, Bill vs William, and asked me to explain.
