simpsonc510 - You do realize that I'm just fooling around in this thread right? I'd take a 15-hour non-stop to Asia anytime over a connection.

OK, OK.... I guess my sense of humor is warped. I'm reading (proofing) a very dry manuscript and my mind is like mush. But at least I'm at OHare waiting for a flt to TPA!!

It WAS an interesting concept though... lots of segments, more EQSs I guess... I'll stop believing you, Ray

Hey, they are pushing a brand new UA milesage plus visa card at OHare today. It's the Mileage Plus Select Visa. They are trying to tell me that I get EQMs using this card. But if you read the fine print, you can get UP TO 5000 EQMs for United purchases. Not one EQM for every dollar.... wah. If it was really 1 EQM for every dollar, I wouldn't hesitate. I put just about everything (that I charge instead of paying cash) on my current.. and NEW by the way... Platinum Class UA Signature Card. Anyone going to switch to this new card?

Back to my reading...............

Carol

Of course I try to book nonstops whenever possible, but not for air safety reasons. Because it's faster, easier, and you have a better chance of checked luggage arriving with you.

<<And more flights = more chance of being bumped and I can get vouchers. A connection also means higher chance for my bag to go missing so I can ask for compensation.>>

I know these things all too well. These things have happened to me more times than I can count. It used to bother me until I realized I can get fabulous prizes for airline screw-ups. Since this realization I've received several vouchers or FF points for delays, plane mis-haps, and having my luggage go astray for a few days. Those damn non-stops will ruin my chances of ever getting such prizes again. No siree, don't try to sell me on a non-stop flight!! I will book as many connections as possible, even if it costs more.

Walking in town and flying are two different things, flying is a bit risky, so why take the risk?

This is positively NUTS.

You are much more likely to be involved in a fatal accident on your way to the airport than during a flight.

The greater concern is your luggage...

(The greater concern is going to jail based on posts on here.)

Susan, Walking is a bit risky. Why take the risk?

I have to take off and land here to begin my journey no matter where I go, so I honestly think nothing of the rest of the connections I make. ;-)

Is the OP writing a travel book or something? This has got to be the strangest series of questions I've seen on this forum in a long time, and that's saying something!
