Legroom in AA vs UAL?

I'll be flying from LAX to JFK in April...am now looking to book my ticket. I remember American Airlines advertising that it has increased it's legroom in every one of it's planes. Is this true? Or does it just apply to Business or Frequent Fliers? Any comments will be appreciated!

It is definitely true- all of coach on AA has significantly more legroom---
as far as I know, only business class on United is afforded this "luxury".

See the post on the other forum re:United's "Economy Plus." If you don't qualify for that section, you are doomed to be squished.

In October, I flew Boston - Chicago - Honolulu; the flight to Chicago had definitely more legroom; Chicago to Honolulu did not. The first leg was a smaller aircraft- seats 3 & 3; the other was 2-5-2;

This was on American.

Just took United flights on 737 this weekend on weekend e-special. When booked online on Thursday pm we could not get seat assignments. On Friday I called central reservations and was told we were assigned aisle and middle row 16. When we arrived at airport 2 hours before flight I asked if the flight was full or if we could be located where extra space available--desk agent gave us aisle and window in row 8--Economy Plus. Returning called morning of flight to find flight very full, but still got two aisles, one in front of each other, again in Economy Plus. We are not elite level United FF, just got lucky I guess. The space is definitely noticable. Very similar to the AA seating on flight we took last year.
