LAX Domestic to International
I have been informed that when I arrive at LAX American (domestic), that I must pick up my bags from baggage claim and then check in at Delta International for my flight to Tahiti. Can someone tell me, are there taxis or buses that I can take quickly to the International terminal? There is not a lot of time between flights.

LAX runs shuttle buses between the terminals; their stops are right outside Baggage Claim on the lwer level. Check with Delta; LAX's website suggests that all of their flights go in and out of Terminal 5, next door to American's domestic Terminal 4 (except for SFO flights out of Terminal 3), so this may be easier than you think.

I don't believe that Delta flies to Tahiti, but their partner Air France does. It's possible that AF makes a stop in LAX before continuing onto PPT.
But I don't understand why AA can't thru-check your bags to PPT?
AA does have an agreement with both AF and DL to do this. I've been told on a few occasions when booking tickets for a connecting flite that bags cannot be thru-checked, but once I've checked in, the agent sure does ticket our bags to our final destination!
Are you flying on a paid ticket or FF miles? Or are you a "non-rev" passenger? That might be the reason?
