Knitting while flying

I am flying to Europe tomorrow and want to have something to do with my hands. In the past bringing my knitting along was not a problem. Will my circular knitting needle be take away from me?
You should call your airline to confirm that. Currently, you cannot take knitting needles aboard. Circular though? Not sure...

No knitting allowed, they're probably afraid that you'll knit an Afghan.
Afghan, get it?!?!? I crack myself up.

As a serious answer to your question Debbie, I doubt that knitting needles would be permitted on board. Last week I was allowed to bring a razor (not straight-edge) and nail clippers, but my fiance had her nail file (metal) confiscated and, believe it or not, they found a small travel sewing kit with 2 sewing needles in her bag and they took the needles away. What harm she was going to do with two needles is beyond me, but there was no need to argue.

In short, I don't even think that calling the airline is a wise idea. Even if someone tells you that knitting needles are permitted, there is no telling who you will run into at security; they certainly don't care what some faceless airline employee told you over the phone. It's just a sign of the times. . . .

I've seen several people knitting with plastic needles on my recent plane trips. Perhaps you could find some plastic circular needles to use for your trips.
Good luck

The problem is not what that seventy yr old little woman would do with those knitting needles. It's the terrorist who would take them from her.
