Knitting while flying

As a serious answer to your question Debbie, I doubt that knitting needles would be permitted on board. Last week I was allowed to bring a razor (not straight-edge) and nail clippers, but my fiance had her nail file (metal) confiscated and, believe it or not, they found a small travel sewing kit with 2 sewing needles in her bag and they took the needles away. What harm she was going to do with two needles is beyond me, but there was no need to argue.

In short, I don't even think that calling the airline is a wise idea. Even if someone tells you that knitting needles are permitted, there is no telling who you will run into at security; they certainly don't care what some faceless airline employee told you over the phone. It's just a sign of the times. . . .
