Any recent experience with the airlines, older messages look like bad service. Have a choice between them and northwest (ugh also) from chicago to madrid. THanks!

A year ago we flew Iberia to Tenerife.The worst flight was the transatlantic over. The male flight attendants hung out in the galley. Very little service. Food was below even typical airline food. The flights from Madrid to Tenerife and back plus the flight back to the US were much better. Flew northwest two years ago. Had a better experience with them.

Iberia has a reputation of flying when they want to. Check out their on time and cancellation records and you'll see what I mean.

Just flew ORD-MAD-ORD with them - average!!! Food average, seat comfort average, service below average, altough there is an open bar throughout the flight in the back - you need to get up though. The female Spanish flight attendants are not friendly, whereas the males are very curteous. Entertainment was nice, although on the way there they had us on the ground in Chicago for 2 hours with no explanation, no water, no headphones, no ventilation....
I would fly them again if I had to.

I flew with Iberia from Morocco to Spain then from Madrid to JFK. For the shorter flight they decided to just cancel the flight at the last minute and walked away from the gate. There was no offer to help the passengers nor any explanation. When we finally did get a flight it was by complaining to our tour company's home office via the phone. The trip to JFK from Madrid was 2-1/2 hours late-- again with no explanation. Additionally, they do not perform the mandatory airline safety checks (I used to be a flight attendant). The cabin service was terrible. You had to ring and ring for even a glass of water. I will not take that airline again. I did not feel safe.
