Aegaen or Easy Jet
My husband and I are new to European travel so I appreciate all help. We will be in the northern Italy area and need to fly to an Athens wedding. We will fly from Milan to Athens. Does anyone have a preference for either of the above airlines? We usually just have 1 carry on piece of luggage each, but it appears European airlines have smaller sizes allowed in their overheads, so I'm not sure we'd meet the size requirement.
Aegean's website offers 40% off for pre paying baggage fees when booking rather than purchasing at the airport. Is this recommended or do we take our chances?
Thanks for the advice.

I've flown both airlines and if they both fly the route & airports you want, go with the least expensive. Low fare airlines in Europe are serious about baggage allowances, especially weight. Believe what they say on their websites, taking chances will most likely cost you.

I mentioned "airports" above because most low-fare airlines in Europe use smaller airports. So pay particular attention to which airport, especially if there's a time factor such as arriving at one and leaving from another the same day. Transport from one to the other can be awkward and if, for instance, you opted for a taxi between, could eat up any savings in a hurry.

If either of these airlines uses Linate in Milan, choose that one because it's a really easy taxi ride to and from the city. Malpensa is far from Milan and more expensive and time-consuming to reach.

Just used both 2 weeks ago -- both ok, I got the "Plus" tix at EasyJet so was able to preselect seat and check a bag -- though I am usually carry-on only, my hubby's carry on is larger than mine (ok for US not intra-Europe). They are strict.
Aegean didn't seem quite as strict or as much of an issue. Aegean also handed out snacks and free drinks (coffee soda etc.). But that is one experience on each airline so perhaps others can offer more.
