Heathrow to Lisbon help

we are flying Virgin Atlantic from Dulles to Heathrow. Then I booked separate tickets to Lisbon via TAP. We have a 5 hour layover in London. My plan was to pick up our luggage at Virgin ( in terminal 3) then proceed to terminal 2 to my TAP flight and check in there. Im aware I would need to go through passport control in term 3, and security again in term 2, but I really don’t want to loose my luggage and I think I have plenty of time to do this. Or Would it be safe to just check my bags all the way through to Lisbon when in Washington? I’m not sure if they will do this since I have two separate tickets. What do you suggest?

VS can’t check your luggage all the way to Lisbon when you have separate tickets. You have a lot of time between flights & T3&T2 are close to each other.

Odin is correct - can't be done. But as long as your arriving flight is anywhere close to on time you will have no problems at all. Immigration lines at T-3 ca be enormous, but even if it take 90 minutes you still have plenty of time. By the time you clear passport control your luggage will probably already be on the Carousel and it is a short walk T-3 to T-2

P.S. The one time we flew TAP, it was from Lisbon to Heathrow. Really nice airline.

Our flight was delayed one hour in Lisbon, and they gave us access to the very, very nice TAP lounge at the airport. Fabulous spread of complimentary food and drinks, very comfortable seating with electrical outlets. I needed lunch and was thrilled.

Maybe you’ll get to use the TAP lounge at Heathrow?

Heathrow to Lisbon help

Sorry, it is travelsis, no sister just - no screen name memory! I will check out the use of the TAP lounge at Heathrow, that would be really nice to relax for those extra hours we should have.
