Speaking of PreCheck (which, to be precise, does not automatically come with Global Entry) ... article in today's NYT http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/26/bu...?smid=pl-share

Congrats! It really does eliminate one or 2 (if you can use Precheck) annoyances of air travel.

Still confused as I had Pre-check on my flight out on Sunday but didn't get it on the return flight the next day. My husband got it on both flights.

As I understand it TSA Precheck randomly selects travelers to go thru the regular security line. This means that you will not always have TSA Precheck on your boarding pass. Were you and your husband on the same ticket or per?

HappyTrvlr - as stated several times in this and other related threads - TSAPreCheck is "random" - assuming you are enrolled in the program there is no guarantee you'll get it on any given flight. Sometimes you get it, other times you don't! What happens to other traveling with you has no bearing on "your status" for the same flight.

Just give all the liquids, computers; and explosives and weapons to husband. And let him wear your coat and your pairs of shoes too.

I agree, you will not automatically be waved through on TSA Precheck as there are still a random number of travelers selected for the regular check, pre-approved or not. However, as you have already realized, it is worth it to get into the Global Entry program even if you don’t get pre-approved every time. I certainly think it’s been a good investment for us. Here’s a recent article on the subject - http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2013/1...avel-like-vip/

I don't have GE but am connecting on AC in Toronto from Europe to Boston. I notice TSA Pre is printed on my connecting boarding pass. Does this speed up US Border Pre clearance and if not what is it for since I have carry-on and am not exiting the secure area

I came thru Halifax on AC and Global Entry did not exist there. You have to collect your bags and re heck them ,but PreCheck didn't do a thing.

When you buy ticket online there is a place to enter your Trusted Traveler number, right after you enter your name, Frequent Flyer number, etc.

IF we get Global Entry program, does that automatically enable us to use TSA PreCheck Program as well?

Yes.

I just noticed this is an old thread. Want to add, though, that you can get access to an existing reservation and choose to edit the passenger info and enter your KTN. Follow the "Manager Reservations" or "Existing Reservations" link at the airline's website, or call the airline to add it to your res.

I've had Global Entry for a couple of years and it's quite handy. I was pretty psyched to see TSA Pre-check added to the mix.

However, most of my international flights are not via US Carriers and I have never been able to enter my Trusted Traveler number anywhere.

I emailed a couple of them and basically got the same answer, "We don't know about this US program".

I have a Global Entry -- for several years now, and I don't recall getting a trusted traveler number. Is it on the card?

Also, I think Air Canada is the first "international" airline to jump on this bandwagon. I'll be on KLM/Air France this fall and I don't think they have it yet. I don't recall there being any place on the reservation to put it.

Does anyone have a different understanding or updated info?

Surfergirl...the number is also referred to as "Pass ID." It's on the back of my card.
