yes, as long as it's the correct fare code. You need to check on the airlines site what fare code they give miles for.

It certainly doesn't hurt to show your ff card when you check in!! Go for it. I've gotten miles for a flight that I was certain would not qualify with my UA card!!

Why would you not buy directly from the airline? Third party vendors offer no advantage,and may even make it worse to resolve issues of there are glitches while traveling.

First, you can find the fares that earn Dividend Miles here:

Now, I tried Orbitz, with a mock PHL-MCO booking for 10/28 -11/3.

Cheapest US Airways non-stop itinerary is $173+$21 tax = $194. I clicked "Select" for one of the itineraries. Next is the "Flight Detail" page where I put in my name and clicked "Continue". Next is a page to "add attractions and services", which I also click "Continue".

Finally, I come to a page called "Traveler Information". Near the bottom, there's a link for <b>"rules and restriction"</b>. I click it and it opens up a page called "Fare Rules", and it shows the "Fare Basis Code" as <b>RXATNF4Y RXAUNF4Y</b>. First one is the outbound fare class, and second is the return. All you need to know is the first letter, "R". So, this is an "R" fare, which is the lowest fare class that earns 100% Dividend Miles.

It's similar process on other websites.

From a USA departure city on USAirways using a Dividend Miles account, then it is pretty safe to assume you will get 100% of the miles (tho checking the fare code to be certain is certainly worthwhile). I probably wouldn't have even checked, believing that what rkkwan found is the rule.
