Four-hour layover in Miami

I’ve got a long one coming up on my way from ORD to Puerto Plata on Friday. Assuming the flight from Chicago lands on time, I’ll be landing around 4 p.m. in Miami. Any thoughts on how to kill time during the layover? I’m guessing there’s really not enough time to leave the airport, particularly at rush hour, but let me know if i’m wrong. Also, what’s the best place to grab a bite at the airport? I’m flying American.

With 4 hours you really won’t have time to leave the airport and actually “do something” and still have time to re-clear TSA and get to your departure gate.

No worries though, there are some 48 different restaurants located inside the secure areas of the airport. Since all terminals are accessible by corridors without leaving the secure area you can get to any one you select. The restaurants range from fast food to more upscale steak houses. You can find a complete list here:
Miami International Airport

FYI - AA uses terminals C, D and E - again all are connected by internal walkways.

I would go to Cafe Versailles for their Cuban food. Have a Cuban coffee too.

Great way to kill your time. On the other hand, you can sit in a lonely place and read newspaper. In this way your will time pass.

I'm not sure if Happy Trvlr's post was clear. There used to many recommendations to leave the airport and go to Versailles Restaurant which is not far away. And it used to be a good way to pass an hour or two, but required leaving the airport. But the Versailles Cafe is their smaller "outpost" in the main terminal at MIA.
