Flight tracking

We're leaving for EZE this evening with a 55 minute connection at DFW. Having a hard time determing how to track AA flight 1801 from MCI to DFW and AA flight 997 from DFW to EZE. Obviously, I know how to check if they are on time. What I want to do is track their progress throughout the day. Any suggestions? I'm doing something wrong on sites such as flighaware.com.

Most airport websites have a link to track flights. You might try MCI's and DFW's webpages.

What exactly is your problem with flightaware.com?

Those flight numbers do bring up the previous day's flight logs, and will be showing it live when the plane is in the air.

For 997, the tracking will end a few hours after takeoff, after it departs US airspace.

For international flights, I also like to use flightview.com.

To keep track of times and gates, i use flightstats.com.

Thanks.

I was trying to follow the aircraft I'll be on this evening throughout the day to see if it's running on schedule via the other routes. I've got if figured out.

There's no easy way to track a particular aircraft on AA. But using information on flighstats.com and aa.com it appears that the MD80 aircrafts for 1801 will be doing this today:

AA731 LGA-DFW
Enroute now
sch arr 2:10p, est 2:21p

AA731 DFW-MCI
sch dep 2:55p, est 3:23p
sch arr 4:25p, est 4:38p

AA1801 MCI-DFW
sch dep 5:05p
sch arr 6:40p

I think it'll be running about 15-20 minutes late, based on what the websites are indicating now.

The other plane for 997 is doing this:

AA79 LHR-DFW
sch dep 12:50p, actual 1:11p
sch arr 5:10p, est 5:34p

AA997 DFW-EZE
sch dep 7:35p
sch arr 8:05a+1

So, my prediction is that you will have under 45 minutes to do your connection. But it's just a quick ride on the train from Terminal A to D. Should be fine unless 731 gets in MCI even later than 4:38p.

If your flight into DFW is running a bit late, it won't hurt for you to notify the flight attendant that you have a tight connection. The FA should be able to alert the DFW-EZE flight that you're on board.

The FA may even announce on the PA asking other pax to wait deplaning in order to allow you to get off first if your connection is tight.

If you're not familiar with the Terminal Link, just check the AA inflight Magazine or ask the FAs. They'll be able to tell you where is the closest stop to get on.

Have a good trip!

Thanks to all for the advice. Now, if they can just get the wild fires in Buenos Aires under control....
