EK award tkt using UA miles

Anyone been able to do this? When I called UA, they do not get instant availability for EK and have to get back to you about seats. I'm looking far ahead at this point so should be able to get one biz seat I hope!

I was able to get an award reservation on EK, first class KIX-DXB-KIX. I think this was in Jan. 2006 for travel in March 2006. Got the dates I wanted, IIRC, or maybe +- a day. Unfortunately, I couldn't go.

I tried again in November and December for the same award for the following March but it was not available. Tried again in January and still no go. Couldn't go anyway.

Where is KIX by the way? I will be trying for DXB=NBO for next fall as soon as inventory opens up-just one biz seat so I'm hoping!

Osaka, Japan.

Good luck getting your tix. That date that you will be trying is not necessarily the date that inventory opens up. More likely it is the earliest date that inventory might open up.

No. 330 days in advance is not the date that it will open up, it is the earliest date that it might open up. There might not be a seat available on that day, or the next day, ...

Thanks-I meant open up only in that I can start checking for seats, right, not that any will actually be there!

Right- 330 days out is when it might open up. Remember, that it's 330 days prior to your return date also!
