Customs and connection time
My wife and are traveling to Venice from Atlanta with a short stop in Paris. We are traveling on Air France the entire trip. The time between our arrival at Paris DeGaulle and departure to Venice is 1:10. Two questions: 1) Do we go through customs or any other controls in Paris that will slow us down, and 2) Is the 1:10 minutes generally enough time to make the conection? We have traveled internationally before, but always point to point with no international stops. We have plenty of time if we miss the Paris to Venice connection since our flight since our cruise doesn't actually depart until the following day. Mostly curious about the customs issue.

An Air France representative should be there to help you through the process.
AF will know you, and others, will be going through this process and should be available.
The 'best' I had was a people mover that was connected to the gateway in Paris. About 8 of us were met by AF, put in the people mover. The people mover took us over to our next gate for our continuing flight.
I haven't had to go through passport control when transiting in Europe before. Seems odd to me that this requirement is in place now.

France and Italy belong to what are called the Schengen countries, along with 23 others in Europe. Travel among them is essentially borderless as far as passport control goes. Since France is the first port of entry in this case, that's where they'll check passports. The OP will not go to his conencting gate until after that. He'll pick up his bags in Venice.
