Brad,

We would have to know what major airport you would be flying out of first.

It depends on lots of things, I am sure if you call a Travel Agent, they can give you a great rate with hotel or car or both, along with your airfare.

Dick is right. The fares to Hawaii are incredible. I was looking for fares from the West Coast and they are lowest I have ever seen.

Your best bet is Orbitz. They generally have the lowest fares and will provide you many alternatives. Orbitz lists web only fares that are available only through Orbitz or the airlines own website. These fares are not generally available through other websites or agencies.

Orbitz and a other websites have a nice feature. They allow you to specify how far you've willing to drive to get to an airport. If, for example, you specific SFO you see flights out of San Jose, Oakland. A few extra miles on the road may save you big bucks.

Some websites also allow you to specify a range of dates for your trip and you'll get the lowest fares for the range of dates. If your plans are flexible, this is another way to save.

When you find what you want, try the airline's website. You may get substantial frequent flyer miles for booking online.

Price may be paramount. But a tie breaker is American Airlines extra legroom in coach. The seat pitch is about 34". Compare that to United Airlines seat for what they consider nobodies, 31", the difference in comfort is incredible.
