Changing multiple airport trip to round-trip

Here's my situation: My original trip called for me to fly Ohare to Las Vegas on Jan 30, LAS to San Diego on Jan 31, and back to Ohare Feb 4th. The event I needed to be in Vegas for the one night is cancelled, but I still need to get to San Diego on the 31st. Booked original trip on Expedia, called and they told me they couldn't change a multiple leg trip to a simple round trip.
My options as I see them now:

1. Cancel my whole reservation ($100 cancellation fee plus $30 re-booking fee when I reserve for the ORD-SAN round trip, plus any difference in price) and re-book ORD to SAN directly.

2. Change my Jan 30 ORD-LAS flight to Jan 31 (Expedia.com will let me do this online, with $100 change fee). My concern with this is that i'd likely have to get my luggage and then re-check-in when I arrive in Vegas to catch my LAS-SAN flight, which would be about 3-4 hours after the ORD-LAS flight would be scheduled to arrive.

3. Suck it up and keep my flights the same, spend the night in Vegas, which wouldn't be all that bad if you ask me, and catch my flight to San Diego the next day.

Has anyone run across this in the past? I'm not really sure what is the best for me to do at this time. Any help is appriciated.

Never done this, but any changes in flights, doesn't matter Expedia or direct reservation through the airline website, is at least $100 fee.

Were you able to get a hotel room for only 1 night at new years?? If so, I wouldn't believe my luck and wouldn't change anything.

If you don't have a hotel reservation yet, it may be cheaper to change the flights.

The bottom line is: how badly you want to be in Vegas

How important is it for you to stay one more night at home? For me, I would definitely stick with original itinerary and enjoy an evening in Vegas. You can get a hotel room for less than the change fees.

[But of course, you may end up spending much more in the casinos or other entertainment venues. ]

You must have mis-read my dates, this is at the end of Jan, not around New Year's. It's a Monday night, so I figure I'll be able to find a hotel for dirt cheap. I love Vegas, just never spent time there alone. Although if you have to spend time in a city alone, Vegas is probably has the most to do where you won't feel uncomfortable flying solo. Now just to convince my wife that I should spend the extra night there

Yeah, plus who needs hotels at LAS? Just spend the night contributing.

Remember, what you spend there stays there.

Ooopss yes, I misread the dates.

Will your wife believe you the plane ticket is non-refundable?
