Caught in the AA labor dispute

Spent an extra three hours in Dallas because the captains chair was malfunctioning.
I read that these last minute repair calls are a tactic the pilots are using to get what they want. There were many very angry people.
I just at the gate and watched the first half of The Packers game. They gave me 3000 ff miles and an apology.

We're flying AA into DFW next week with a connection to LAX then on to Kona. We have 2 hrs to make our connection in DFW and 5 hrs in LAX.

I'm crossing my fingers but know there is definitely a chance that we might not make it to Kona on time.

American airlines is the worst! We were at MSP this am....power went out in entire airport...all other carriers got their computers up and running in no time...American Airlines did not....almost did not get on flight....once we arrived in Chicago, we learned that our flight to London was cancelled due to mechanical issues.....yeah right.....we have to hang out at O'Hare for 11 hours.....they gave us a lousy lunch voucher.....we will not get to London until 9 am....that means we will be paying for a hotel $300 per night and we won't even be there! At least $170 to cancel room....I will NEVER fly AA again!

I'll never understand why employees of a big corporation on the verge of total bankruptcy want to further try to guarantee their employer will go out of business. Does that make sense to anyone?

And yet, yesterday we had 2 AA flights, MXP to JFK, JFK to LAX, that were perfectly fine - left on time, no mafunctions, pleasant and informative attendents, no lost luggage. I do not denigrate the problems AA is having, but some of the bashing seems unreasonably harsh.

I think a good question to ask is, if US Airways buys AA, will our AAdvantage points and existing future reservations with AA be wiped-out with no compensation??

beerbackwash, I wouldn't think so. Whenever one airline takes over another, haven't they been pretty generous in extending those FF awards? Of course, AA's program is a lot better than US Airways, so I won't speak to the quality of any "combined" program.

AA..Early morning flight out of New York was cancelled on Sunday,9/30 right before boarding, first told four hour delay, then learned it was cancelled. Rejected their offer to get me to my destination on AA 15 hours later, after mmidnight, and demanded they put me on another carrier which they did. Many, many angry passengers.
With the other mergers, Northwest and Delta, United and Continental, we've gotten all our FF miles forwarded, nothing lost. Perhaps even a bonus of some miles for filling out their online form to combine the miles.

AA sent us a voucher, and refunded our rental car coat to get us to our original destination as we flew to one over 100 miles from we wanted to fly. Also refunded our upgraded seat charges. All done quickly and much appreciated.

And the check arrived quickly as did refunds to our VISA. They seem to be moving quickly to repair the damage.

We just returned from our Hawaii trip without incident. Every one of our flights were on time and the crew couldn't have been nicer.

Would you rather AA took off with a plane that's not working? Where do plan to make and emergency landing over the North Atlantic?

Serously, AA is having labor issues but "I WILL NEVER FLY AGAIN" when they cancel due to mechanical always strikes me as just being whiny. And all airlines cancel due to mechanical... I wouldn't fly the airline that says "well this plane has issue, but CarolA will whine if we cancel so cross your fingers and let's go" LOL!

Happy to report that we had absolutely no issues on any of our flights. Everybody we encountered with American was very nice and helpful.

Just flew SMF/LAX/JFK/MAD on AA. All flights were on time and my bag arrived in IST with me (flew IB MAD/IST).

Almost a month later from the OP - I am watching AA complaints on Facebook - much less these days.

Have things smoothed out now for AA? I am looking to book flights over Christmas and wondering if it is worth the $50 savings per ticket.
