Can someone please answer this question for me about AA? I am stumped

Okay here we go, I am looking for christmas airfare to europe and using various search engines. Travelocity, kayak etc. I am wondering for the longest time, why is american airlines always the lowest in airfares? It seems all the other airlines are more money! It is just a puzzle to me? Also, is american airlines good to fly to europe?

Just a guess, but the cheapest airfares are to or through LHR?

LHR has become a nightmare. With all their restrictions, gloomy buildings, loooooooong walks, lines everywhere, many people are giving up on London airports at the time, myself included. I rather pay little more and be waitlisted for an upgrade, instead of instant upgrade availibility on the US-LHR routes (in most cases), and fly to Brussels, Paris, Madrid or Frankfurt, a much more civilized way to arrive or depart.

AA has a HUGE investment in LHR with about 20-25 flights a day there on 763 and 772s, wide body jets from various US cities. That's a lot of seats. They can trump any other US based airline when flying to London.

UA/LH JFK-IAD-MUC is about $465 for 12/24 to 1/1.

AA/BA JFK-LHR-MUC is around $650.

So, there you go, they are not always cheapest.
