British Airways said on Wednesday it plans to fly new routes between mainland Europe and the United States from June, taking advantage of a new transatlantic liberalisation pact.

When did anyone announce BA was going to fly to JFK?
One of the key questions for what they've called Project Lauren was whether Kennedy really is the right place to use. Using other, Luton-style, New York-area airports might, the internal argument went, provide the kind of painlessness Silverjet offers.
BA realise that offering a near-clone of AF between Paris and JFK run the risk of being a rerun of WW1. None of yesterday's announcements show they've made their minds up on this.

The problem is that, which New York-area airport really fits the bill? Stewart is pretty far from Manhattan and Islip is isolated out on Long Island. Maybe they will do the flights ex-EWR, but I just don't see them flying into one of the more peripheral airports.
And, besides, who says that BA is aiming at Silverjet and not AF? Given the recent MaxJet collapse, I would think BA is more concerned with all of the majors jumping into Heathrow than they are about any start-up, all business carrier.

I don't know why I posted JFK. BA has not announced any specific NY airport.
That said, using EWR (Silverjet's base) and painlessness, in once sentence, is funny at best.
I'll take JFK any day over EWR.
BA does fly out of EWR so it is very possible that it may be EWR for OpenSkies but as posted above I don't see any other possibility. JFK or EWR is my best guess.
