Does anyone know if they charge for strollers that are taken to the gate?

In my experience, no. It might depend on who you mean by "they" though.

For *most* airlines, you should be able to gate-check strollers with no additional charges. However, European discount airlines like easyjet and Ryanair do charge extra for strollers.

BTW, depending on the airports, you may NOT be able to retrieve the buggy when you de-plane. (ie You may have to pick it up at the luggage carrousel).

Actually Easyjet and Ryanair don't charge for strollers that are taken to the gate. I've used both recenty for flights with my 1 year old and they are fine

No doubt it's something Ryanair will 'fix' if they realise they can make money out of it.
