Avoid British Airways at all cost!

1. Our first bad experience begin upon arrival in Rome. 1 of our 2 baggages did not arrived in the airport. As it contains mainly our winter clothing. Thus, we are force to waste our first day in Rome hunting for these essential, suffering in winter cold without any winter jacket!

2. Our second bad experience occur when our transfer from Paris to London was cancelled just few hours before the flight due to bad weather.

3. To piss us further, instead of providing some form of compensation, they demanded us to pay up additional 40 pound for an extra check in baggage saying that both are separated issue. Most airlines only charge if you exceed the given weight restriction. For British Airways, they even charge you for every extra baggage on top of the usual weight restriction!

4. The condition of their flight entertainment system was horrible. One of them at our seat was even not working at all throughout our whole 14 hours of flight!

5. They even make a fool out of us by getting us to sent in our original receipts for the purchases on the essential due to our baggage lost, making us believed that they will at least compensate us in these. Only to tell us to make this claim from our insurance instead when we no longer have our original receipts with us!

6. To further rub salt in our wound, we finally received our "lost" baggage 14 days later back home with it's form which seem to suggest that they wanted to save cost by not rushing the baggage we need urgently. Thus, they waited for the next available "free" flight many days later to do so despite their major lapse in their service provided!

Which airlines have you taken which you will recommend or not recommend? I highly recommend Emirates and SQ (Singapore Airlines). Both provides great and personal services. SQ even provide free hotel stay to compensate you if their flight got delayed! Their compensate usually far outweight any cost incur to you as well!

I suggest that you avoid British Airways at all cost because they will avoid paying you any compensation at all cost as well.

I suspect you recommend Emirates and SIA because you've not yet had a problem with them.

SQ loses luggage too. They've lost mine 2-3 times.

SQ is not immune to major delays. My last flight with them was delayed six hours...they decided they needed to replace three tires during a layover scheduled to last 50 minutes. Our compensation was juice and muffins.

<For British Airways, they even charge you for every extra baggage on top of the usual weight restriction!>

I'm not aware of a single airline in the world that doesn't do this.

Things happen. Bad weather happens, airlines can't control the weather any more than you can.

It pays to be prepared. Frequent travelers learn to pack their carry ons for contingencies, because luggage gets lost/mis-routed. It happens.

<The condition of their flight entertainment system was horrible. One of them at our seat was even not working at all throughout our whole 14 hours of flight!>

This happened to me once on a long haul in BUSINESS class. I hope you reported it to the crew so that they could get it corrected for the next hapless passenger.

I'm sorry you had so many issues. Similar things have happened to many of us. But things happen, we live, we learn, we move on.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to Rome and didn't let your experience with BA ruin your entire holiday.

Thus, we are force to waste our first day in Rome hunting for these essential, suffering in winter cold without any winter jacket!

Most people would have taken heavier coats on board "just in case" (or rather "just in lack of case")

Our second bad experience occur when our transfer from Paris to London was cancelled just few hours before the flight due to bad weather.

Barstewards - they should have taken off and killed everyone on board.

For British Airways, they even charge you for every extra baggage on top of the usual weight restriction!

You didn't bother to check what you were allowed and so were bitten

The condition of their flight entertainment system was horrible. One of them at our seat was even not working at all throughout our whole 14 hours of flight!

So only one of the IFEs wasn't working, were other passengers complaining how "horrible" it was? Did you tell the flight attendants? Could you have been moved to another seat?

Only to tell us to make this claim from our insurance instead when we no longer have our original receipts with us!

Have you tried asking for them back?

Thus, they waited for the next available "free" flight many days later to do so despite their major lapse in their service provided!

Or it took that long for them to find the missing baggage and get it to you.

If you decide to complain further may I suggest you get someone to read your rant so that opinions & beliefs can be removed and facts inserted.

Almost every major airline has lost my luggage at some point in time, I am just unlucky in luggage so I always pack at least 2 days worth of clothing in my carry on bags. Furthermore it's your responsibility to know luggage restrictions and charges in advance and there s/b no surprises.

BA does not control the weather and I'm glad they cancelled your flight instead of flying in unsafe conditions. Your safety is more important than your convenience.

As far as everything else goes just know that stuff happens when you travel. If you will be a little more prepared next time the unexpected won't be so unpleasant.

You should have what you need on the plane with you, not in checked luggage. Anything valuable, personal, or what you will need in your first day or two.

British Air is the only carrier I've used to Europe (five trips only) and I've never had a problem.

Losing luggage is a lot worse than inflight entertainment not working. Hardly the same kind of complaint imo.

You sent original receipts without making copies first? Tsk tsk.

We divide our clothes between 2 suitcase, some mine. Some his. Same for types of clothes; that way if 1 gets lost, yo are still ok. If both get lost? Slim odds, and a day or 2 change of clothes in carry on.

Extra check in bag charge? always in economy, which if you had to pay means you checked in more than 1 each, you said you only checked in 2 bags. You each get one checked in bag free.

Research before you go next time.

How is it British Airways fault that your transfer was cancelled due to bad weather.

Would you of prefered to hear an announcement such as "the weather is really bad, and the plane might crash and you won't make it, but we're going to attempt to get you there.... ready for boarding!"
