Anyone use "Check My Trip"? Are changes to the ticket updated on the site?
Hi all,
Here's the scenario:
I booked online using the Air China website. Got my confirmation and E-ticket. I was calling them about some other questions I had regarding my reservation and was then notified that one of my flights was cancelled and I was not going to make a connection (FYI I was not notified of this cancellation). After many many phone calls I finally got my connection changed however no email confirmation was sent to me. Is this typical with e-tickets? I have also discovered "check my trip" and when I logged on, my changes were not reflected on the site? Should I be worried?
After my experience with Air China the past few weeks I don't trust them and I was already planning on calling them every week until I leave. But I was hoping "check my trip" would be an easier alternative than busy signals and waiting on hold for an hour.
Has anybody had a similar experience to share?

Don't rely on "Check My Trip." I did so last December for an internal flight in the Philippines, and I arrived at the airport just in time to catch my flight -- when I thought I was arriving 90 minutes early. Based on my experience, "Check My Trip" is a snapshot.

I have used it in the past with no problem. Usually for me it comes up when I book through one airline, but 1 or more segments is with a partner airline. For example, I got tickets through United for Copenhagen. The international portion is with Lufthansa. I can look at the UA website (logging in with my MP #)and see all the flights, but it doesn't show the Lufthansana seat assignments (which I got directly from Lufthansana). I can also log into Check My Trip with the Lufthansa booking number and see all the flights and now all of the seat assignments are displayed. Any changes to the flights have shown up too.

You can't change anything on "CheckMyTrip", but as soon as changes are made by the airline/travel agent, you should see it on the CMT site and here is why.
CMT and few other similar sites are operated by GDS companies. Global Distribution System are companies that actually do and keep airline and hotel bookings in their system until the ticket or stay is done. Any changes should be seen almost immediately. Airlines/hotels use these systems to book your trip. The only problem is that not all airlines use the same GDS. AA for example, uses Sabre and they won't allow their version of on line CMT to show the itn. Others use some other systems and most budget airlines don't use any, as in Southwest, RyanAir, EasyJet, etc.
So, if you were able to see your itn before on CMT, then you should see the changes.
Examples of GDS companies: Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre, etc...
