Another FF inquiry for American Airlines
Hello--Is it possible to book a stopover using FF miles? I'd like to use my miles to to get my brother and sister in law one ticket for their honeymoon. They're going to be in Aruba for one week and they mentioned that they might be interested in exploring San Juan for 3 nights before heading to Aruba.
I know I can't book this online, but can it be booked on the phone without using more than the usual 30,000 miles for a round trip US-Caribbean?
If it helps, they're planning to leave from Chicago. And a quick search online shows that each segment of the trip they'd like to make has FF availability. Or at least, if each segment were booked separately, there would be availability. Does that make sense? I might not be using the right terms.
Anyway, thanks for your help!

I have used AA miles for trips with stopovers on several occasions, in fact I just returned from such a trip last week. I flew from Austin to London, stayed in London a few days, then went on to Madeira, Portugal. No problema.
If you book by phone they will chage you the same number of miles as if you did it on line, but there's a fee, I think it's $20.

Have you considered AA Vacations for the stopover? We went to Paris this way and were treated like royalty! They arranged our flight, our pickup by limo at the airport, our hotel, and some vouchers for great restaurants, museums (including the Louvre), etc.
