American Airlines booked my frequent flyter tickets for next April to Venice and back on SABINA AIRLINES. Now that SABINA is out of business.........American is giving me the (literal) run-around to get me there. 3 changes - 9 hours of layovers......and they saw that's the best they can do! No wonder they are having troubles - - their customer service stinks!

The problem is that American Airlines doesn't fly to Venice (nor anywhere in Italy). Their other code-share partner is Swissair, which has also gone under. I know that Brish Airways flies from London to Venice non-stop once a day, and they are an AA partner. Maybe they can get you a non-stop flight to London and then hook you up on that flight? AA's other partner is Iberia, which I cannot recommend. They are the worst airline.<BR><BR>If I were in your shoes, and what American proposed is unacceptable, I would ask them to credit my miles back to my account and I would simply book a flight without using miles. I flew last year from New York to Venice on Delta and it was a good flight. Best of all it was non-stop! April is shoulder season, so you should be able to get a flight that is not too expensive. I flew on a AA frequent flyer ticket to London, then changed over to British Air to Venice. We had no problems.

...and I flew American this past spring to Rome, non-stop-- so American definitely goes to Italy...

jen, unfortunately American doesn't fly anymore into Italy. They used to fly into Rome and Milan, but those routes were not profitable enough and they were cancelled.

Christine, <BR>The same situation happened to me but I told AA that their alternative route was unacceptable and got a full refund. The refund took 12 weeks (!) but I never got any argument - the staff was cooperative, polite, but slow w/ the refund because of "backlog".

AA flys non stop to Rome from Chicago. Everyday.
