Airlines from Jacksonville, FL

Anyone know of an inexpensive airline from Jacksonville to West Palm Beach or Ft. Lauderdale besides Southwest? It's such a short flight yet I wind up paying over $100.00 each way for my son to come home last minute or even weeks ahead of time. Any help is appreciated.

Curioius. I see fares as low as $49 + fees each way on SW. I suspect the problem isn't the choice of airline, but when you buy tickets. It costs more to fly on any airline with little advance purchase - lowest cost seats always sell out first.

You also need flexibility. Fri afternoon flights will always be more than Tuesday am flights - again, regardless of airline.

That $112 all in. one-way ticket on Southwest is refundable.

This company can get DS to WPB at 7:20 tomorrow morning (it is 10PM now) for only $50.

Don't overlook Amtrak. Two trains a day from $94.

Without knowing your son's age, this may be a stupid suggestion, but what about driving?

It's a 3.5 hour drive, not that much longer than flying when you factor in 1-1.5 hour check in, 1 hour flying and finally about another .5 hour for luggage pick up and the drive to your place.

Just a suggestion....

If DS has no car to drive then riding is an option. Colleges usually have a ride board where people with cars look for riders to share gas. Could get a door-to-door trip.
