Airline taxes

I typed in my dates for flights San Francisco - Tel Aviv, and got a looooooooong list. Glanced at the prices - the taxes are so different! Starting from just over $100 on American, Swiss, and up to $280 on LOT.

Why is this difference?

Where do you see the high taxes for LOT? On beta.itasoftware.com, the Poland-specific tax is a PLN60 Poland Airport Tax (probably each way). That's about US$15.

I knew I left something out I've started with Orbitz, just to see approximate prices and who is flying where.

I really do have too much time...

I tried some random date 2/1 to 2/10 SFO-TLV on both Orbitz and itasoftware.com. The two returned the same itinerary and price (except for the extra $10 that Orbitz charges).

According to Orbitz, the fare is $815, tax and fee is $266. According to itasoftware, fare is $950, tax/fee is $120. Same results... But I have no idea what's happening.

Oh, I see... must be some agreement, like trade agreement or similar. Thank you, Beachboi.

Still researching... and as I'm buying a tour through an agency to get the 10% land discount, I asked her how much would be the air.

I sent an e-mail to that agent telling her I found an $815 RT on Swiss, asking how her price would be different from mine. Her reply was: "my airfare is $1,264". WOW! HUGE WOW! $449 savings!
